Annabelle is a hobbyist model who is new to modelling, but she brings a thoughtful and considered presence to the studio. Although she is still at the beginning of her modelling journey, she was very natural to work with and approached the shoot with a calm, open attitude.
What stood out to me during the session was Annabelle’s willingness to take direction and try different ideas. For someone new to modelling, that is one of the most useful qualities to have. Modelling is not simply about standing in front of the camera; it is about learning how small changes in posture, expression, hand position, and body language can alter the feel of an image. Annabelle responded well to this process and gradually grew in confidence as the shoot developed.
Her portfolio set shows a good range, moving from softer, more natural portraits through to images with a slightly more styled and editorial feel. This variety is useful for a new model because it begins to show how she can work with different moods, clothing choices, and expressions while still keeping her own character in the images.
Annabelle was great to work with in the studio. She was patient, attentive, and willing to experiment, which helped create a relaxed and productive shoot. As she continues to gain experience in front of the camera, I think this first studio portfolio session gives her a strong and honest starting point.
New to this side of the camera?
I have written a set of pages for models, covering the things nobody explains until you have already been caught out by them. None of it is a sales pitch and most of it applies whoever you shoot with.
What happens at a shoot
Start to finish, so nothing on the day is a surprise.
Staying safe as a model
